Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Bauer Products Locking Cam Latch for Cargo Trailers

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we take a look at the Bauer Products Matte Black Locking Cam Latch for Cargo Trailers. Now, this lock is designed to secure the handle on your cargo trailer's cam-action door latch. This will replace the standard hasp and padlock assembly on enclosed trailers with the bar-style handle. This is comparable to the Fastec 65004 and the Global Link 65612 vise locks.

What's nice with this is the spring-loaded lever here will automatically latch when you drop the handle in place. So, if you push this open, you'll have it open like that, and when your latch handle comes down and it'll push down on the inside, it'll automatically close it. And then to release it, just pull it out and open your handle back up. And again, when the handle goes in, it'll close it. The spring-loaded lever automatically latches when you drop the handle in place.

It is more secure than your standard hasp with a padlock. And what's nice is this cannot be easily unbolted from the trailer like a hasp or cut like a padlock. It is a die-cast aluminum construction. It has a nice black powder coat finish on it to resist corrosion. And if you notice that the bottom here where the lock cylinder is, has a nice rubber cover over it to protect it from the elements.

Now, it does include two keys. They are 300 Series Keys and they are double-cut keys, which means they're cut on both sides, so you can insert the key into the lock either way to open or lock it. So, right now, you can see it's unlocked. If you put your key in there, and again, you can put it in either way, turn the quarter of a turn, take your key out, it's locked, it's not gonna open up. And then to unlock it again, just put your key in either way, turn it that way, and it unlocks it just like that.

And again, we mentioned it's a double-cut, so it can go in this way, or if you flip it over, it's cut on the other side, it'll go in that way also. And this lock can be keyed alike to match other Bauer RV SCI locks. To order the keyed alike, you wanna select "Keyed Alike" from the dropdown menu on the product page, enter the number of locks in the quantity box. But, again, with it unlock, you can see that the latch opens. When the handle comes down into it, it'll close automatically, and then you can use the key to lock it.
